- Planning Board members will resume consideration of a controversial licensing agreement with South End developer Building and Land Technology tonight that would allow them to build a new boatyard in Shippan to replace a long standing boatyard on 14 acres the developer illegally demolished in late 2011.
Stay tuned tonight for information on the outcome on the planning board’s deliberations which began in August with a series of packed public hearings.
Opponents of the deal have criticized the deal’s financial aspects and proposed location of the new boatyard and questioned whether BLT should be held accountable to restore the former boatyard it demolished on the 14-acre site where it now hopes to build Bridgewater Associate’s headquarters.
BLT’s proposal would replace the 14-acre boatyard it razed on Bateman Way with a 6-acre boatyard on Magee Avenue, to make way for the developer to build a $750 million, 850,000-square-foot headquarters for Bridgewater.
